Office visits: My first office visit lasts for about an hour. I take a very detailed history of your present complain, trying to gets all the specifics, then we review your health in general, your past medical history and health of your immediate relatives. This time is for me to get to know you and to look at you as a whole person rather than a collection of symptoms. It is the big picture that matters because it allows me to see the root of the problem. The consecutive visits are 30 minutes long, unless you are coming for a specific treatment that requires a longer visit. Hydrotherapy treatments: Hydrotherapy is therapeutic application of water. It works by stimulating body's own healing force Currently in our clinic we are offering several hydrotherapy treatments: Constitutional hydrotherapy: This treatment can be used for a variety of conditions acute and chronic alike, including fatigue, arthritis, bronchitis, influenza chronic constipation, dysmenorrhea (painful menstruations), During the treatment hot towels are applied over the upper torso while patient lies on a soft table. The person is then wrapped in a sheet and covered with several layers of blankets. After 5 minutes, a single cold towel is exchanged for the heated one. The body, well prepared by the preceding warmth, reacts to this temperature change by greatly increasing the blood flow to the skin and the internal organs of the chest and abdomen. Hydrotherapy researchers have shown that a reflex increase in blood flow occurs in internal organs when the circulation to the overlying skin is stimulated. It is this internal reaction which is responsible for the long lasting and cumulative effects of a series of hydrotherapy treatments. During the cold phase, a set of electrodes is placed on patients back to deliver low voltage stimulation. Then patient turns on his stomach, while hot/cold towel application is repeated. Research has further shown that the beneficial effects on the immune system last for up to 24 hours making this a very effective therapy for any disorder involving immune function. Constitutional hydrotherapy is contraindicated for people with acute asthma, acute bladder infection and low oral body temperature (less than 97 degrees F) Wet Sheet Pack: Wet sheet pack is one of the hydrotherapy fundamental treatments. It is also one of the most useful procedures. Patients is wrapped into a wet sheet and when covered with dry wool blankets. Treatment lasts approximately an hour and in this time it proceeds through four stages: tonic or cooling, neutral, heating and eliminative. Tonic stage can last up to 15 minutes and during this time body adjusts to the cold temperature of the sheet and no longer perceives it as being cold. This phase is very alterative to the body meaning it restores its inner balance. Neutral phase is very relaxing. Many patients fall asleep during this part of the treatment. by the end of this stage body's own heat has warmed up the wet sheet and heat being to accumulate leading to the heating phase. During heating phase patient feels warm and starts showing perspiration on the forehead. Elimination phase begins when body starts to perspire. This stage is mostly beneficial in detoxification processes such as detox from alcohol, tobacco, and other toxins. It helps with acute infections such as colds, flue and bronchitis. Hot/cold applications: We can also use hot/cold applications when treating subacute inflammatory conditions. This treatment consists of alternating hot and cold applications to promote blood flow, removal of metabolites and healing response in the tissues. If you are coming in for a hydrotherapy or physiotherapy treatment, please dress in layers so you won't get cold on your way home. |
